Welcome to Crook Hall and Gardens and thank you for visiting our website!
The 13th century Grade I listed Medieval hall in Durham City provides spectacular backdrop to the stunning gardens. Visitors from all over the world come to share in the timeless magic of Crook Hall and leave inspired by these idyllic English theme gardens. Soak up the atmosphere over a home-made cream tea in the pretty courtyard or in front of a log fire in the Georgian dining room. The gardens are just a short walk from Durham city’s bustling market place. Country Life described the Hall as having “history, romance and beauty”, and its just waiting to capture your heart.
Please note the House and Gardens are closed to the public on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

The Garden Gate Café is wheelchair accessible and it has a disabled toilet. Crook Hall and Gardens itself is difficult for people with mobility issues due to the historic layout. There are gravel paths and steps. Having said that lots of wheelchair users do visit the Hall and Gardens every year and do assure us that they have had a good time here. We also have staff who are very willing to help our guests get around.
If you are booking for Sparkling Afternoon Tea this would normally be served in our Georgian Tea Room which is on the first floor; if the stairs would be too difficult for you we can arrange for it to be served in our Georgian Study on the ground floor.
If you would like to ring to discuss this further please feel free to do so.
